• Performance Race Week XIII

    April 14-20, 2012

    Captiva Island, Florida

North U and Steve & Doris Colgate's Offshore Sailing School have once again joined forces for the 13th Performance Race Week.  Race Week XIII is set for April 14 to April 20 at South Seas Island Resort on Captiva Island, Florida.

Race Week starts with a welcome party on Sunday evening, April 14. You’ll spend the next five days developing and honing your racing skills with a combination of onboard coaching, seminars and video review. Saturday, April 20 is devoted to a championship regatta and awards banquet. (Plan your departure travel for Sunday, April 21.

Race Week includes 36 hours of sailing, and upwards of 60 starts. You'll have a coach on board, and you'll be sailing a Colgate 26 - a modern, lively, responsive boat that's truly a pleasure to sail.

Sign up individually, or as a team; but don't miss it!

Learn all about it at the Race Week XIII Web Page.

A Note from North U Director Bill Gladstone:

    You're invited.

Offshore / North U Race Weeks provide an incomparable experience with expert coaches, great boats, an incredible setting, and action packed curriculum that have made this event a feature on our calendar for the last 12 years.  We've massaged the schedule and refined our on-the-water sessions to make the most of your sailing time; but we haven't messed with the coach-on-board, hands-on focus that have made this program exceptional.

Sailing on the Colgate 26s in Pine Island Sound at South Seas Resort, you receive detailed expert training from an onboard coach.  You'll also enjoy shoreside seminars and video review using a curriculum we have tweaked and refined for 12 years.

There is simply nothing like Race Week.

I could try to lure you to Race Week by detailing all you will learn about racing strategy, tactics, boat speed, and sail trim.  I could go on-and-on about our team of expert coaches – not just great sailors, but expert sailors with decades of teaching experience.  I might entice you by touting the combination of on-the-water training with onboard coaches coordinated to shoreside seminars and video review.
But in the end, the reason to be there is the fun.  Come to the semi-tropical paradise of Captiva Island for the fun; and as a bonus, go home a winning racer.
    I wouldn't miss it. You shouldn't either.
Race Week XIII is April 14-20, 2012.
    See you there!
    Bill Gladstone
    Director, North U.
